IN SHELL WALNUT CHANDLER (CALIFORNIA ORIGIN)
The Chandler walnut is large, smooth, and oval shaped with a good shell seal. Chandler walnuts are known around the world and are highly prized by buyers for their extra light and high quality kernels. Harvested mid to late season, Chandler walnuts provide one of the highest kernel yields of any of the varieties. Our Jumbo blend contains at least 88% jumbo size inshell walnuts. Jumbo size means walnuts of which not over 12 percent, by count, pass through a round opening 80/64 inches in diameter. The Jumbo/Large blend contains at least 70% jumbo size. The remaining walnuts are large w/ an allowance of 12% that can be smaller. Large size means walnuts of which not over 12 percent, by count, pass through a round a round opening 77/64 inches in diameter.
IN SHELL WALNUT HOWARD (CALIFORNIA ORIGIN)
University of California variety, this large, round, smooth nut has a good seal and is harvested mid-season. Well known for its light nutshell color and attractive natural appearance, the Howard walnut features a large, light kernel that provides outstanding flavor. Our Jumbo blend contains at least 88% jumbo size inshell walnuts. Jumbo size means walnuts of which not over 12 percent, by count, pass through a round opening 80/64 inches in diameter. The Jumbo/Large blend contains at least 70% jumbo size. The remaining walnuts are large w/ an allowance of 12% that can be smaller. SHELLED WALNUTS (CALIFORNIA ORIGIN)
Shelled walnuts are removed from storage as needed and mechanically cracked. The shelled material is screened. Kernels are screened into a series of sizes, air-separated from shells, and moved to electronic color graders and shell sorters. Finally, they are hand-sorted by trained sorters and certified for quality and USDA Standards.
